Iberoamerica / LAIF City Life: "Urban Life Competition"
AECID, with the support of the European Commission, is launching a competition in the framework of the LAIF City Life initiative to give civil society, a voice in identifying and proposing projects that contribute to improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups in Latin American countries. The competition will run from 18 April to 18 May 2022.
Through the LAIF City Life initiative. Civil society is expected to identify and formulate urban planning programmes and investment projects in sustainable urban infrastructure, that are aligned with the strategic priorities of the European Commission and the national and local governments of Latin American countries.
With the aim of giving a voice to civil society, the initiative envisages the holding of competitions for innovative ideas in urban planning, organised in four editions, which will in turn be a source of identification of potential projects whose preparation could be financed by the initiative. Within this framework, the first edition of the CONCURSO VIDA URBANA is being launched with the collaboration of the Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB).
The deadline for the presentation of proposals begins on 18 April and ends on 18 May 2002. The initiative includes 3 prizes with a total amount of 30,000 euros (15,000 euros for the 1st prize, 10,000 euros for the 2nd prize and 5,000 euros for the 3rd prize) to help the projects to become a reality.
Teams from Latin American countries in the American continent may participate: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Proposals must be submitted by multidisciplinary teams that are aware of an urban problem identified in a specific community, and have good ideas to solve it. The 3 winning teams will be announced on 1 June 2022.
