Over the last five years, a total of 2,671 Honduran businesses have grown stronger thanks to a tripartite initiative, involving the EU’s Latin American and Caribbean Investment Facility (LACIF)
This initiative, the Business Idea Development and Acceleration for Central American MSMEs -otherwise known as DINAMICA- gathers the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), the Government of Germany (through the KfW) and the EU (through LACIF).
Successful endeavours via DINAMICA include enterprises in western Honduras, such as AquaPark and the Campestre El Yate Club, as well as Hotel Villas del Agua Caliente that have managed to expand their range of tourism services. Other sectors to have received support include food, industry, and agriculture.
"With the contribution of our strategic allies, we have channelled a total of US$62.4 million in 11,123 loans to MSMEs in Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Panama, protecting 21,662 jobs and boosting our region’s economy, which depends so heavily on this sector," said CABEI Executive President Dante Mossi.
